I believe that everyone can enjoy learning a new language. My methods are stimulating, clear and fun. I have a Master's degree in teaching ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) and Spanish. I am also able to teach beginning Portuguese. I have experience teaching English and Spanish at every level from kindergarten to college. My specialty is creating a warm communicative atmosphere where learning becomes a pleasure.
Although I have taught a great deal in the classroom, my specialty is individual tutoring. It is my pleasure to get to know a student well, to help him or her evaluate his or her language levels in writing, speaking, reading, and listening, and to develop an individual plan geared toward individual learning styles and goals.
Because I have reached fluency in Spanish and Portuguese, I know that language learning takes hard work, but it is also incredibly fun. All of my language teaching includes cultural exploration and genuine communication.
I enjoy travel, and have lived in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Brazil. However, my favorite times are spent with my two daughters and husband in our home in Swannanoa, North Carolina.
I hope to be part of your language learning journey soon.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
