BS Salem College (Exercise Science)
I am a full time paramedic that is pursuing a medical career with the USN. I have a B.S. in Exercise Science from Salem College in Winston Salem, NC and was fortunate enough to work with the Wake Forest University Marching Band as a student leader/participant for 3 years. I was a member of the National Honorary Band Fraternity Kappa Kappa Psi, Kappa Zeta chapter and the Vice President of the Beta Alpha chapter of the Biological Honor Society, Tri Beta during this time. I completed my senior project titled, "A biomechanical analysis of the first step in backwards marching" tying together my love of marching band as a sport and my studied in human anatomy and movement. I have been an NRP/EMT-P for 1.5 years and have 2 years experience as an EMT-B before this. I love having nursing students and medic students on my ambulance with me as it gives me an opportunity to teach the skills that I have learned and learn something new from these students. I love to be challenged and part of the challenge is explaining concepts and skills in ways that best fit each individual.
I strongly feel that I will be a great tutor because I have a large amount of experience tutoring and teaching in an informal setting, and I have patience and dedication which will allow me to devote myself fully to helping others succeed.
I am currently a Nationally Registered and State Certified Paramedic with a B.S. in Exercise Science with a concentration in biology (human anatomy/movement). I utilize pharmacology and anatomy every day in my current job and excelled in these areas both in my undergraduate career and in my certification courses to become a paramedic. I am not a state certified EMS instructor at this time, however I am able to tutor students in paramedic/EMS related courses if requested.
I received a 98 on my last ASVAB exam and am pursuing a medical career with the USN.
My days of availability are generally Sun-Mon and Wed-Thurs and the hours vary. I would be happy to discuss specific problems and concerns prior to scheduling tutoring sessions. I will do my best to respond to requests within 12hours. Please contact me with any comments, questions, and concerns. I am able to drive from my location in Gaston County to the CLT area if that is preferred. I am a full time paramedic that is pursuing a medical career with the USN. She was very helpful and even sent me some important links to websites that are helping me improve. She gave me some tips on how to study and get ready for the Asvab.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor in this subject due to my B.S. in Exercise Science that included a heavy concentration in physiology/anatomy and the science of movement. I work as a paramedic in Charlotte, NC and was successful in this subject area in Paramedic school as well.
I have a B.S. in Exercise Science from Salem College with over 12-15 course hours in Biology specific courses. I have experience tutoring through the QUEST program at my undergraduate institution and successfully completed higher level independent study courses in this area.
I have 3.5 years experience in EMS and have been a paramedic responsible for advanced cardiac pharmacology for 1.5 years. I successfully completed a certification course from Lenoir County Community College in October of 2015 and have passed the North Carolina State and National Registry Paramedic exams both of which require pharmacology. I currently complete recertification and continuing education courses in this subject on an annual basis.
I have multiple hours invested in biology, chemistry and basic science courses as part of my undergraduate career. I have high scores in all of them and have achieved high scores in standardized tests in these area. I am able to tailor lesson plans to specific age groups and produce questions and study guides that assist students in learning productive study habits.
I have extensive experience utilizing anatomy and physiology concepts in my everyday job. My degree was primarily dealing with the body's response to physical activity and the methods the body uses to move and interact with it's surroundings.
