My name is Annie and I recently graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering an a minor in Business. During my time as an undergraduate student I was an active member of the women's club ice hockey team, AguaClara (an engineering project team devoted to designing sustainable drinking water treatment plants in Honduras), Plastic Tides (an adventure-based group focused on environmental issues such as banning micro-beads through community outreach), and several other co-curricular clubs such as Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AAEE).

During my time as an undergraduate at Cornell I was also lucky enough to be given the opportunity to work as an undergraduate TA for an upper-level engineering course known as Sustainable Development. While I had informally been helping other students with schoolwork since high school, it was a wonderful experience to be able to help others in a more formal setting. During my time as a TA I developed a very patient learning style and since much of the course focused on the students debating current environmental issues (global warming, deforestation, sustainable technologies, etc) I learned the importance of not only hearing differing opinions, but using the opinions of others to advance my own knowledge and understanding.

What I love the most about teaching and tutoring others is the moment when they truly begin to grasp the subject and learning, therefore, becomes so much more enjoyable. As someone who has been tutored myself several times, I understand how frustrating it is to not understand something. I want to be able to use all of knowledge to empower others to enjoy learning as much as I have and still do!

I have always excelled at math which is one of the many reasons I went on to study engineering in college. What I love most about math is that there are so very many ways to come to the same solution to a single problem. All perspectives and ways of thinking are welcomed

Fitness

I have always maintained an active lifestyle. In high school I lettered in soccer four times, softball four times, and track & field three times. In college I played division 1 club ice hockey for Cornell University and was president and captain my senior year. Throughout all of my athletic experiences I have learned the importance of strength and conditioning, as well as many ways to achieve both. Additionally, I have been actively practicing fitness and nutrition for the past four years. While I am not a certified personal trainer, I have trained with two regularly and have learned valuable information. I do not claim to be an expert on the subject of fitness, but since I have always loved staying active, I believe that I could pass on knowledge and love of fitness to those seeking it.

Soccer

I was a varsity letter-winner all four years of high school. As a four-year starting goaltender I received such awards as Defensive Player of the Year, all-conference honors, and I still hold the record for most single-season shut-out wins. In addition to playing for my high school, I also played travel soccer at a high level and was brought up to compete in one game at the semi-pro level (WPSL) when I was 17. After graduating from high school, I helped coach the varsity soccer team during the summer for two consecutive years.
