I am currently a high school math teacher teaching Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. I love working with students of all ages and on a variety of subjects. I have been lucky enough to travel and teach many diverse topics in many different places. I attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and studied Evolutionary Biology and Environmental Studies. While attending school, I helped tutor at a local elementary school in reading, math, and science.

Following college, I joined the Peace Corps. I was sent to Sierra Leone in West Africa and I taught math and science at a middle and high school. Teaching there was very different from here in the U.S. My classes had between 35 and 80 students in them, many who could not speak English well or at all. This experience taught me so many things, but I think the most important thing I learned was patience. I believe that the most important attribute I can bring to teaching is patience with students.

After returning home from Sierra Leone, I worked in multiple environmental learning centers. I was lucky enough to be able to teach science through the outdoors. Since then I have been a reading teacher, a computer teacher, and a math teacher. All of my diverse experiences have allowed me to become the patient teacher I am today. I know that all students have their own diverse issues and there is not only one way to teach someone. I look forward to working with you!

Came prepared for anything!

Michael was open, clear, and it was easy for my daughter to communicate with him. He brought extra work to the first lesson in case she didn't have enough to fill the time.
