University of North Carolina Asheville (Political Science)
My love of learning has been an important part of my life for many years. I graduated Summa cum laude from my high school, and contribute that to the hard work and dedication that I put into my academics for my whole school career. As an extension of this hard work, I have always loved helping other students achieve success through tutoring. Noticing when true progress is made is the most rewarding part of tutoring. I have had experience with teaching before, as I completed a student teaching internship with a 7th grade English teacher last year. It gave me the opportunity to interact with students and learn how to make lesson plans. This was the best experience that I had during my whole four years in high school.
I specialize in the subjects of history and English, and I am majoring in political science so anything along those lines is also something I can assist in. I can also help with several types of test prep, including PSAT, SAT, AP and ACT tests. My tutoring style is encouraging but helpful, as I try to work with the student to figure out how they can best grasp the material. At the beginning of each lesson I will review the material of concern to ascertain how the student is mastering the material, and use this to shape the lesson for the day.
I do have a 10-hour cancellation policy, and I will try to be as flexible as possible within reason. Please contact me with any questions though, as I will always try to accommodate schedules.
Feel free to contact me with any further questions. Have a great day, and I look forward to hearing from you! My love of learning has been an important part of my life for many years. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have had many years experience with cooking, and do so every chance I get at home. I have taken several cooking classes both in school and out, including Foods 1 in high school where we prepared many recipes. I love teaching others how to cook, and use my passion to show them how fun cooking can be.
