About Frank

I recently retired as a high school math teacher, enjoying 11 years working with students. Subjects include Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Advanced Functions & Modeling, Pre-Calculus, Math II, and Math III. My experience in private tutoring has been very fulfilling, seeing students improve their grades from failing to excelling. Students are comfortable working with me .

Prior to teaching, I was an engineer for 26 years, designing and installing systems. I know where math is used, and can easily relate math concepts to the real world.

My style of instruction is one of guiding a student through a concept, and then relating this knowledge to standard formulas the student normally sees in a math class. I can help students see how concepts from previous math classes relate to their current studies. Having taught from Algebra I to Pre-Calculus allows me link these relations.

With my background education and experience, I can definitely help a student understand math concepts and be successful in their math career.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I have taught most math courses, including Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Advanced Functions & Modeling, Pre-Calculus, Math II, and Math I. My students sought me out for tutoring on ACT and SAT math.II. Having taught Algebra I to Pre-Calculus allows me link math concepts for better student understanding. I can also link these concepts to real life as I was an Electrical Engineer prior to teaching. My knowledge and experience will definitely help students' ACT and SAT math Scores.

Algebra 2

I have taught and tutored math levels from general math to Pre-Calculus. My students did well on their state assessments.

Geometry

I have taught many sections of regular and honors Geometry. As a former engineer, I can relate the geometric concepts to real life use, thus motivating students in their learning. Much of Geometry is taking figures and solving for various components of the figure. This involving employing the given data and generating algebraic equations that are then solved. I help students understand why various data is given, and how to set up those needed equations.

Precalculus

I have taught several sections of Pre-Calc. My students' scores were some of the highest in my district on the state final exam. Many students taking Calculus have come back to thank me for preparing them for Calculus.

SAT Math

I have taught most math courses, including Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Advanced Functions & Modeling, Pre-Calculus, Math II, and Math I. My students sought me out for tutoring on ACT and SAT math.II. Having taught Algebra I to Pre-Calculus allows me link math concepts for better student understanding. I can also link these concepts to real life as I was an Electrical Engineer prior to teaching. My knowledge and experience will definitely help students' ACT and SAT math Scores.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry is introduced in Geometry, and extended in Algebra II, Advanced Functions & Modeling, and Pre-Calculus. I have taught many sections of these courses, and I'm effective in growing the student's knowledge and use of trig. As a former engineer, I can further their understanding of trig by linking its use to real life.

Great Tutor — Frank is quite helpful to my daughter. He has a way of helping her understand geometry. She says Frank will go through the problem and explain things fully and well. As a former teacher, it is apparent he has the "teacher gene," which makes him want see his student succeed. I highly recommend Frank! ...
