I've been teaching privately for about 20 years now. While my focus has mainly been on teaching the guitar, I've broadened my scope and ventured out into teaching accounting (my profession) as well as computer skills (which I utilize all the time.) Teaching is not everyone's cup of tea, but it's something that I really enjoy. It's very rewarding to equip someone else with the knowledge and the skills needed to move forward in the field he or she has chosen to pursue.
I've been working as an accountant since 1996. Accounting caught my fancy back when I was in high school--I found the structure to be very appealing. Accounting also lends itself to utilizing the computer as a powerful tool. I thrive in Excel--the best spreadsheet software out there, and one that is widely used in the accounting world.
I started playing the guitar in 1992, and have studied under several different teachers and at two different music colleges since then. I've been actively involved in church music (praise and worship) and in playing fingerstyle guitar.
The aim of any skilled teacher (myself included) should be to make himself redundant. It's therefore my aim to equip you with the skills you need to learn new material without my assistance. While this is not a quick and easy project, it is nonetheless my goal. I look forward to working with you! I've been teaching privately for about 20 years now. Robert helped me in my accounting class. The way he explains things is much better than how my teacher has explained it. I would definitely recommend Robert to anyone.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My first job back in 1996 was as the bookkeeper for a retail store. I've held several other jobs since then and currently work as the accountant for a non-profit company in Fayetteville. I completed my Master's degree in accounting at UNCG in 2012 and am working toward my CPA qualification.
I started playing the guitar in 1992 and started teaching in 1995. While I've played steel-string acoustic, nylon-string acoustic ('classical') and electric guitars, my preference has always leaned toward the steel-string acoustic.
It's never too late to start! I've found my best students to be the older ones, so don't let age be a deciding factor.
I have my B.A. in Music from California State University and an M.S. degree from the University of North Carolina.
I'm an Excel junkie! I've been working with spreadsheets since the early 1990's, when I was introduced to the realm of "number processing" in a class that taught me "As Easy As", a freebie version of Lotus 1-2-3, one of the earliest pieces of spreadsheet software. Computers and software have advanced a long way since then, and Excel stands tall as the best of them all in the spreadsheet realm. I love it and I can help you love it too!
It's fair to say that the majority of those who use a computer have used Microsoft Word. While it definitely has room for improvement, it's pretty much the standard by which all competitors are measured. I've been using Word for 20+ years and there are many tricks I'd like to show you.
Music theory has always delighted me. It's comparable to looking under the hood of a car and actually understanding what happens there! I have a B.A. degree in music and I've taught music privately since 1995. I'd love to help you understand it more and put it to good use!
