My name is John. I've always enjoyed explaining things so that people can relate and learn. I'm an Army Reserve Chaplain Candidate, and I'm a pastor. Over my military career and higher education I've been given some unique opportunities to learn. Now, I would like the chance to help others gain knowledge and wisdom.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I studied Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. I was later given the opportunity for a language immersion trip to Cairo, Egypt. Later, my partner and I won the Gold in the 2000 Language Olympics held at DLI. My skills have no doubt diminished since I have not been using Arabic as much, and I'm not a native speaker; but I would love to help give you a solid foundation in this beautiful and important language. Early on in my language training, I struggled quite a bit. Since then I have learned much about language-learning styles and teaching methods, and I have helped many others get their start in the exciting, but challenging pursuit of learning a difficult foreign language.
I took the ASVAB when I joined the military. My scores were high, and I had my choice of military occupation specialties open to me because of it. Since then, I have helped other people improve their scores and pass. I can teach the skills required, and time saving tips you need to get a better score.
