I have 15 years experience as an engineer both in bioengineering and the automotive industry working with driver software. I know C++ and Fortran. I have done work with graphical interfaces. I have 16 years experience with occupational therapy in the schools, residential facility, and home health. I have worked with people 0-99 with autism, other developmental disabilities, brain injury, stroke and orthopedic rehabilitation. I have a CAPS (Certified Aging in Place) certification, have applied for my Montana OT license, waiting to sit on the assistive technology provider exam. I will be in Montana from May 27, 2015 - Oct 1, 2015. I am originally from Michigan but have been living in San Diego, CA since 2010.
I tutor neighbor children in algebra. I have taught a class in Algebra but that was some time ago as an adjunct faculty.
My children have taken biology through Northwestern EPGY program which is an online biology course. I have helped them through this course. I am really close to having a biology major not finishing only my foreign language requirement at the University of Michigan. My engineering degree at U of M was in pre-bioengineering. I also have an occupational therapy degree which includes a heavy emphasis on neurology.
I am a member of Toastmasters International and have finished my competent communicator series. I have also given presentations for my garden/bakery business in Ann Arbor, MI.
I have worked with persons with autism from age 0 - 60. I have subbed for 3 early interventions leave 6-12 weeks each, been a sole occupational therapist for 3 different school districts who had sensory rooms and a preschool program, have worked with transitional students for a year. I currently mentor clients to improve their advocacy skills. I am very interested in the Specialisterne program which has its goal of employing a million people on the autism spectrum in the computer industry. I have been a programmer for 15 years.
I really enjoy working with students. I look at their interests and apply my subject matter so it makes sense to them why they need to take this course to further their individual goals. I am excited about this opportunity. Let me get you to the next mileage mark! Cheers! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
