Hello Montanans! I received my undergraduate degree in English, with a major in literature and a minor in writing, from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. I earned my graduate degree in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England.
I work as a freelance writer, and also as a writing tutor for a Washington D.C.-based tutoring company. I enjoy helping students build confidence in their ability to express thoughts in written form.
I am able to tutor any English subject including writing, reading, grammar, vocabulary, and more. I can also provide tutoring for those who need help with Microsoft Word, psychology, SAT writing, world history, and TOEFL learning.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I know how difficult and nerve-wracking it can be when faced with a public speaking situation. For most people, the idea of speaking in front of a crowd is just as terrifying as the idea of death! However, there are several techniques that can help you overcome this fear.
My first major public speaking experience happened when I was 18 years old; I delivered my high school valedictorian speech to a gymnasium full of my peers, and their friends and families. (There were several hundred people in the room!) I rehearsed the speech several times prior to the event and on the day I employed several techniques in the areas of concentration and relaxation that allowed me to deliver a fine speech which received a standing ovation. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to speak in other public situations, all without embarrassing incident! The key to success is confidence in your ability to project yourself in a calm and coherent manner.
I am more than happy to help anyone prepare and rehearse for an upcoming public speaking situation. I know you can do it!
