Montana State University (Business Finance)
My name is Kelsey. I am twenty years old and I have completed one and a half years of studies at Montana State University. I am currently taking a break from school, but my major during that period of time was Business Finance with a minor in German studies. I plan to return to my studies in the fall of 2014 with a major in German teaching. My particular area of expertise is the German language and culture. I completed 3 years of German instruction in high school and one and a half years at Montana State University. I have traveled to Germany twice, the first time in 2010 with a high school exchange program. I stayed with a host family for almost four weeks while attending a German high school and taking small trips around Germany. My second trip to Germany was in 2011. I attended a college prep school in Altensteig, Germany for 6 months. This experience allowed me to become proficient in the language and learn many things about the culture. During my stay I was able to visit several places throughout Germany and Europe. I consider learning the German language and culture to be a true passion of mine. I have some experience in tutoring German. In the summer of 2013 I gave about two months of tutoring to a young man who was entering the military. I do not have a specific method of tutoring, but I like to use a similar method that my high school German teacher used. This method I found extremely helpful because it kept me and fellow students interested in learning the language. It also made learning the language more simple because of the hands on learning tools my teacher used. I would really like the opportunity to become a tutor for someone interested in improving their German. I promise to make it a positive learning environment.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
