Originally from Michigan, I earned a BA in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana, and an MFA in English and Creative Writing from the University of Virginia. During my time as a Graduate student, I had the opportunity to teach undergraduate creative and academic writing courses. I also spent several years tutoring middle-school aged students in English and SAT prep, along with volunteering as a reading tutor for elementary school students. Additionally, I worked one-on-one with high schoolers in an ESL classroom to help them with their reading and writing. I currently live in Bozeman, and teach 100 and 200 level writing courses at Montana State University. I am very passionate about working with young people, and love to help them improve reading and writing skills by using engaging, creative, experiential teaching methods.
Whether you need help with reading comprehension, test prep, grammar, or simply are struggling with how to begin that story, poem, or project for school, I would love to work with you! Please feel free to contact me at any point to ask questions, learn more about my background and experience, or set up a time to meet. Thanks! I look forward to hearing from you. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
