About Al

I have extensive experience developing solutions with VBA using Access, Excel, Word, and Outlook. I have enjoyed working with engineering firms in aerospace, energy development, and the environment.

I led the development of an application at Sanmina-SCI in Huntsville, AL providing engineers with reporting of reliability of electronic components and systems used in DoD and Aerospace Systems. Work at Rockwell Collins maintained data connections between Avionics sensors and a Central Processing Unit. I have also developed applications tracking sales data, Project Management, Assets, Equipment Maintenance, and Wildlife.

I have worked as a mentor for less experienced developers. I start with the basics and then lead beginning developers through a learn by doing process. I teach the basics of requirement gathering and the importance of keeping user needs in mind throughout the development process. I teach the importance of data integrity and the importance of data normalization. I teach a toolbox approach to VBA coding whereby students learn basic code elements and then apply in real life scenarios.
