I home schooled my daughters over a 12 year span and then decided to complete my teaching certification with an endorsement in special education through University of Mississippi's TMI program. I hold a level 2 teaching certification in grades 1-5 for the state of Louisiana. I taught first grade at a local private school. For the past two years I have worked as an elementary school tutor at this school. I have certification in ESL. One of my children was learning delayed, which is why my interest in special education developed. My eldest daughter graduated from Belhaven University in 2010, and the middle daughter graduated in 2014. Both daughters graduated at age 20 with a GPA of 3.7-3.9. This to example how I value the importance of education.

If given the opportunity to tutor your child, I commit to invest the time and energy I gave to my daughters and to the students I teach in my classroom. I feel each person can improve their performance with the right guidance and tools. I believe it is invaluable to study daily and to practice new skills in order to master them. Repetition, oral reading and "teaching the teacher" are tools which enhance learning.

I enjoy editing documents and currently work with an international adult on articles she publishes in a professional magazine. I have worked with a local author editing stories. I meet students in public libraries, at school or on line.

Each person can learn and it is a rewarding experience to see their progress.

Great tutor

Mrs. Donna has currently attended four tutoring sessions with my daughter. I am very pleased with the manner in which she presents the sessions. Donna is well prepared at each session and brings materials which are of interest to my daughter which makes my daughter's willingness to be attentive greater. She is polite, soft spoken and on task. Donna requests feedback from me to determine which areas of studying may require the most attention and need. She tries very hard to accommodate my work schedule and I appreciate that very much. I feel very secure regarding her ability to administer and present tutoring assistance to my daughter and look forward to positive results. I would recommend Donna to tutor your student.
