Hi! My name is Erin and I have been tutoring children from ages 6-12 for the past 4 years. I also have history in providing test taking tools, specifically for the ACT. My favorite subject to tutor, however, is English. Where I excel in English tutoring is writing and paper editing. My main focus for tutoring is providing students with tools that they can use on their own in order to make tutoring unnecessary in the future. In addition, I have a history with working with children that have learning disabilities including illiteracy, ADHD and behavioral issues.
I am currently a junior at Ole Miss, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Psychology. For the past year, I have been volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club of Oxford, mainly focusing with girls ages 10-12. A lot of the homework that these girls are assigned to is reading comprehension exercises and long division. What I've seen work best with these girls is implementing study tools that incorporate creative solutions and techniques that aren't typically used in school. I also try to find a suitable space for students to study that variates from student to student. I can make study snacks and provide childcare for working parents if necessary as well.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
