Hello parents and students! I have worked in the field of education for 12 years serving as an elementary teacher, an assistant principal, a principal, a vocational director, and an adjunct professor. My job experience covers elementary, secondary and post-secondary education. I currently hold a 117 AAA license, which is 4th-8th grade certification, and a 486 AAA license, which is an administrator certification.
As a lifelong learner, I believe that all students are capable of not only learning, but of being successful if given the appropriate tools, guidance, and opportunity. It is also my opinion that instead of school districts investing in educational consultants to work with teachers, their investments should be channeled directly to the students. This will provide the best opportunity for the students to realize growth. Since this is not the case in many school districts, parents of students who struggle in certain areas may choose to give the their child an edge by providing them with a private tutor. My experience in education makes me a viable and most capable candidate to serve as your child's private instructor. If I am chosen as your tutor, I will work vigorously to provide the support and instructions necessary to ensure your child's success.
My tutoring methods are two-fold. First, I would like to analyze the child's data by observing previous state test scores, nine weeks assessments, weekly quizzes, and major exams. From this information, I would develop a plan to reteach skills they have not mastered while continuing to support the child by reteaching current topics through mini-lessons. The goals are to develop prior skills and to teach new skills to accelerate their learning and to show growth.
Next, I would schedule progress monitoring instruments each time progress reports are issued to provide data which will drive our instruction. If the child is not showing progress, I will isolate the skills not mastered and reteach these items using different methods, such as hands-on activities, to allow students to connect new information to their prior knowledge. Finally, I would communicate with the student's teachers to collaborate with them and determine the best way we can maximize the student's potential together. Hello parents and students! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
