My name is Daphne E. I am a recent graduate from Crown College in Tennessee. I was recently certified as a TESOL teacher ( Teaching English as a Second Language) and I am a certified Literary Phonetic Reading Instructor.
I have student taught children in reading, writing, and spelling. One of these students was behind a grade level by the end of the semester; he was able to reading up two grade levels. The other student had a lot of disabilities. He was dyslexic, had dysgraphia, ADHD, hearing problems, and a speech impediment. He was unable to read when I met him, but was able to at the end of the semester. His spelling improved as well.
When I taught my international students, they each spoke French but we're from different places (Ivory Coast, Haiti, and the West Coast of Africa). The course I was in lasted a week. They spoke some English but struggled with it. Their English improved by the end of the week.
Tutoring students give me a great joy. I like watching students improve in the subjects they struggled with and understand it as time goes by.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
