There are times when one-on-one training is the most effective learning method. My teaching methodology incorporates a unique personalized approach that is results driven. From the very beginning agreed upon goals are established. Skills and performance measurements are provided at regular intervals for transparency throughout the learning process.
I have tutored students from age 3 to 94 in computer technology with excellent results. I am extremely patient with learners of all speeds and skill sets. It is my philosophy that all ages require a basic computer skill set to thrive in our technology-driven society. Most of my students have a desire to learn these skills, but some of those who are being retrained due to job injuries are apprehensive about computers. For those with these challenges I use the approach of researching a topic of personal interest to lay the foundation for learning. This has been very successful for even the most challenged student.
The bottom line, my students learn and they have fun while doing so.
To this day, many of my students stay in contact with me via social media. It is very gratifying to know that I have played a small role in their lives. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
