Hello everyone,
I recently graduated with my master's degree in social work from the University of Mississippi in August of 2018. I have a huge passion for tutoring other students to help them become the best social work students they can be because I love and get a great sense of satisfaction when I share my knowledge and skills with others to enhance their professional growth. I also love providing tutoring services to others as a result of the fact I have a natural talent for this skill, as I had many of my classmates from college and graduate school ask me to help them with their social work assignments.
Through my previous tutoring experiences, I thoroughly explained whatever concepts my classmates had difficulty understanding, proofread their paperwork, and instilled confidence into my peers to let them know they were smart and were headed in the right direction in regards to mastering the concepts they were learning in the classroom.
The most recent tutoring experiences I had came through my clinical MSW social work internship and my practice of providing direct group supervision for two first-year MSW social work students. In both of these settings, I gave direction and guidance to three fellow peers of mine to help enhance their social work knowledge and practice skills. I also provided with them positive feedback, thoroughly answered any and all questions they had in a cordial manner, and provided with them social support.
I also would like to add that I approach tutoring students in the same way we as social workers are to supposed to approach our clients, which is to work collaboratively with them as equal partners. In other words, I approach my students by starting where they are at, treating them as the experts over what techniques work best for them, and explaining concepts to them in a way they can most easily understand them.
