About Robert

I am currently senior at Ole Miss for Secondary Education. I plan on teaching in Mississippi once I obtain my bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in mathematics. I began tutoring while I was at Northwest Community College where I tutored my teammates on the soccer team. It was from those experiences that I learned of my love of teaching. Student's who struggle with math often times have trouble visualizing or applying real world scenarios to it. I combat these by explaining to students the concept in the most relatable terms.

If a student needs to cancel a lesson I ask that they notify me at least 3 hours before, otherwise there will be a cancellation fee of half an hour charge at whatever rate is set for that student.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I scored a 26 on the ACT while I was in high school with my highest mathematical score being a 25. I am currently in college studying Secondary Education in mathematics. The degree program I am in focuses intensely on mathematics and its theorems.

Algebra 1

All of my college education is centered around educating students in mathematics. I am currently taking higher math courses that use algebra concepts often. They are second nature to me.

Algebra 2

I have taken Calculus 1-4 at the University of Mississippi in which the courses work on advanced algebraic concepts. I have taken linear algebra as well as foundations of mathematics which focuses on basic mathematical concepts and their proofs. I began tutoring while I was playing soccer for my college, many of my teammates relied on me to tutor them in intermediate algebra, college algebra, and calculus. Each student that I tutored showed improved results when they were tested in their classes.

ASVAB

I scored a 78 on my ASVAB the day I signed my contract with the Marine Corps. I was awarded an Associate's Degree August 2015. I am currently a senior at the University of Mississippi nearing completion of my degree.

Bodybuilding

I began bodybuilding during my sophomore year of college where before I was a lanky 142 lbs at the height of 70 inches. I began training and gained 18 lbs in year. I then began training to become a United States Marine. I left for bootcamp and during that time I lost 10 lbs and got bronchitis. Since completing my training I have gained back the muscle I lost and much more. I now am 170 lbs. I made all of this happen by changing my diet and researching loads of training tips.

Calculus

I am in my senior year at the University of Mississippi where I am studying Secondary Education with an emphasis in mathematics. During my time at the university I have taken all of the Calculus courses as well as Linear Algebra, two classes on mathematical theorms, and differential equations.

Elementary Math

I have taken many advanced mathematics courses in college that prepare me to teach any student from the first grade levels until advanced placement calculus in high school. I am currently tutoring my nephew who is struggling with the lessons being taught in his second grade math class.

Geometry

I am a secondary education math teacher. I have taken many courses that require me to know how to teach the subject matter to middle school/ high school students.

Prealgebra

My mathematical education has covered many advanced courses that work directly with algebraic concepts. I have taken Calculus 1 - 4, Foundations of Mathematics, and Linear Algebra at the University of Mississippi, in which these courses covered a wide range of math concepts in depth. The first time I actually began tutoring was when I was tutoring a teammate with her college algebra class. Her grade went from a D in the class to a B by the end of the semester with my help.

Precalculus

While I was in high school I took every advanced mathematical course that my school allowed me. I completed Pre-calculus/Trigonometry my junior year then moved on to complete AP Calculus during my senior year. Since I have been in college I have completed Calculus 1- 4 as well as Linear Algebra and Foundations of Mathematics. I have tutored several students in areas of Algebra, Statistics, and Calculus whether it be for free or through the WyzAnt web source.

Soccer

During high school I was on the varsity soccer team my sophomore, junior, and senior years of high school where we won our district three years in a row. I was named most improved player at the end of my junior year and was named co-captain during my senior year. After high school I was given two different scholarship opportunities to play soccer at the Juco level, I chose to play at Northwest Community College. Now I attend the University of Mississippi where I play intermurals just for fun until I complete my bachelor's degree.

Trigonometry

I am qualified to tutor students in Trigonometry because many of the lessons taught in this course continue to be used in many more advanced mathematics. I have a strong grasp on Trigonometric concepts through completing Calculus 1 - 4 at my university as well as using Trigonometric principles as a combat engineer with the military. I believe I can help someone who is struggling with trigonometry by applying real world situations to help them better grasp the concept.

Excellent in every way. — Robert is great. Robert has taken the concept of fractions, decimals, and algebra and made it so easy to grasp. Robert takes time to explain in terms the student understands. His teaching style is laid back and extremely productive. I would recommend him highly to anyone needing help with math. ...
