About Sheila

Hi! My certification is in Special Education, with a focus on mild-moderate disabilities in grades K-12 and I have met the requirements of being "Highly Qualified" in fundamental subjects. I am also licensed in Social Studies (7-12) and Economics (7-12). In addition, I have a particular interest in assisting students with standardized test preparation.

My teaching experience has given me the opportunity to work with a variety of students who struggle with various issues in learning and forces me, as a teacher, to be creative in my approach to learning. I have personally taken a variety of standardized tests over the years (SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, Praxis and the Massachusetts equivalent called the MTEL) and scored over the 95th percentile on most of them. For many students, refining the test-taking process and learning a few key skills can make a huge difference in test scores. I'm available to work with students after school and on most weekends. Please feel free to contact me and discuss how I may be able to help.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
