About David

In today's information-driven society, education is the foundation upon which a successful and meaningful life is grounded. Whether your student is an advanced student looking to move to the top, an average student striving to maintain her standing, or a student needing to catch up, a good tutor can be an excellent tool.

As an experienced teacher, I have wide background in both the types of students I have taught and the subject matter. On the high school level, I have taught American History, world history, psychology, sociology,
and English to both advanced and non-advanced students. With dropouts and at risk students, I have been successful with GED prep, basic math, basic science, study skills, and writing.

With college students, my experience is with remedial English. I have taught adults concentrating in basic law enforcement subjects, e.g., Search and Seizure, Use of Deadly Force, and Evidence.

My experience also includes the oversight of training staff in diverse areas such as CRP, sexual harassment, planning, and motivating underprivileged students.

In order for students to progress, the teacher must be able to assess the student's present strengths and weaknesses, establish goals for the instruction and motivate the student. Communicating with students, particularly disinterested or reluctant students, or those caught in the revolving door of academic failure, must be individualized to attain the maximum results. Gaining and maintaining students' interest has been an area in which I have done well.

Teaching in any area is a gift and a privilege which I hope to continuing sharing with others.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
