With over 4 years of tutoring experience, I offer students the best opportunity to learn in subject areas and skills that may be difficult in a regular classroom setting. It is vital that students' learning style be identified before proceeding with lessons. The presentation of learning material has to be presented in a way the student can receive it and apply it successfully. I have an advantage over classroom instruction because most teachers do not have time to venture into the learning styles of their students, due to the time restraints on a rigorous curriculum. If given the opportunity, I will maximize the student's learning potential, the ability to find new ways of learning, and the confidence to compete and succeed in their chosen career path.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am certified through the Mississippi Department of Education to teach Elementary Education (K-6). I received my B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Mississippi. While receiving my degree, I participated in the Family Literacy Project, which is a federal program that pays eligible college students to tutor school age children. After finishing at Ole Miss, I was hired at a junior high school in the South Panola School District, as an Interventionist. My methods of tutoring is similar to my learning style. I'm a visual, hands-on learner. Therefore, I teach the same way.

I attended and completed the Elementary Education program at the University of Mississippi. During the program, several classes that taught phonics and phonemic awareness were required. Upon completion of the program, I am deemed a highly qualified teacher.

I'm licensed to teach K-6th in MS and TN. I'm considered by both states to be highly qualified. I have a Master's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction. I graduated from the University of MS with Honors. I currently work at a turnaround school in North Memphis. Over 70% of our students are 1-2 grade levels behind in reading. Therefore, I have sufficient experience in helping and encouraging struggling readers. At the end of my first year teaching first grade in MS, I held the 2nd highest reading growth and highest Math.
Study Skills,

Study Skills

I have 2-3 years of experience as a tutor/interventionist. I have found that some students struggle because of their lack of study skills or not knowing how to study. I believe that it is important for students to review the material covered at school as soon as possible when getting home or to their destination. Teachers cover lots of material in a short amount of time. If a child is to be able to receive, comprehend, and apply the material, then it has to be studied at home the same day it was covered at school. Repetition and routine are very important in organization and study skills.
