Hello! My name’s Brad, and I’ve become a full-time tutor after several years of teaching college level Physics. I currently focus on SAT coaching. I like the SAT in part because it provides a chance to brush up on academic fundamentals, but also because of the substantial benefits to be gained from a little extra preparation. My goal as a tutor is to make your preparation efforts as efficient and effective as possible. In broad terms, this will typically be a matter of helping you get up and running with a good practice regimen, and then supporting you along the way with discussions of test strategy and test content. There’s also an important psychological side to these things, and I lend support on that front by helping you to stay positive, and to ward off any discouragement or intimidation along the way.

Regarding my own background: I began tutoring in the mid 90s while pursuing my bachelor’s degree in history. During this time I tutored mathematics and writing. Later I returned to school for a master’s degree in Physics and then a Ph.D. in Computational Physics. Throughout my graduate years I taught physics courses, mentored undergraduates in the lab, and worked specifically on tutoring students in the introductory physics classes. I then went on to teach physics at several colleges. Along the way, I’ve come to prefer one-on-one instruction and a focus on academic fundamentals, leading me to my current work as a tutor.

I’ve taken an interest in standardized tests after years of teaching at the college level. In 2020 I tackled the SAT, took the test myself, and scored in the 99th percentile range (770 on reading/writing, 760 on math). Even with my background, scoring so highly on the SAT required quite a lot of study and practice. I found this encouraging, as I know that others could achieve similar results through similar methods. There’s no single magic technique for instant success, nor any way to bypass the work required, but I can give you guidance and support that will make your effo

Great prep for SAT!

Brad helped me prep for the SAT. Even with just one lesson, we went over specific example questions from the test and he gave very helpful tips. I felt much more encouraged and motivated to take the test :)
