Universidad Leonardo DaVinci (Marketing)
University of Jaén-Spain (Master's)
I am native of El Salvador. I graduated from an international private secondary school with emphasis in foreign languages; this gave me the opportunity to study abroad in England and visit several countries in Europe. Foreign language studies have been always part of my life, I have experienced that learning other languages will open minds to other cultures. It is an everyday journey.
I attended to the Universidad Jose Simeón Cañas in San Salvador, El Salvador where I received a degree on Marketing Technician and then I attended to the Universidad Leonardo Da Vinci, San Salvador, El Salvador where I received a Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Marketing. To obtain the Mississippi Association of Independent School Teaching License, I have taken several classes at William Carey University. My philosophy of teaching is related to my background in marketing. I work to create a very attractive and interesting curriculum for the students. I teach them by focusing on their needs using different approaches, transforming the classroom into a place where students have fun while they are learning. I like being part of the learning process of my students because all of them can teach one another while they are learning, even when they are mistaken.
I have a Dual Master's degree in Applied Linguistic to the Teaching of Spanish as a Second Language at Jaén University of Spain and Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language at Universidad Iberoamericana, Puerto Rico, through FUNIBER Fundación Universitaria Iberoamericana. I am an active member of Mississippi Foreign Language Association and the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. I decided to continue my education because I wanted to be a better teacher for my students. I have high expectations for my students so I have high expectations for me too!
I have ten years of teaching experience and I have taught Elementary, Middle, and High School level. I have helped tutoring College students as well.
I am currently teaching high school level but I am willing to help you as an after-school program or Saturday school. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
