Temple University (English Psychology)
Indiana University of Pennsylvania (Master's)
As a life-long learner, I have found my passion in helping others better understand the often complex worlds of English and Psychology. As an honor's graduate in both of these fields of study, and with my M.A. in Clinical Psychology, I have spent a considerable amount of time learning the intricacies of the human mind and how to effectively express one's self through written and spoken word.
In addition, I believe that test preparation is a skill that is often ignored in the classroom setting. With such an emphasis placed on standardized testing, students stand to gain a great deal by learning the most effective study techniques, techniques that can be optimized by applying psychological theories to their implementation.
My educational background includes a B.A. from Temple University in both Psychology and English (magna cum laude graduate with honors destinction in both subjects), as well as a M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (3.8 GPA). I am currently working toward completing my doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and to that end have completed my dissertation. I have previously worked with students as both a college counselor and as an academic probation advisor, positions that I found highly rewarding.
I love working with students one-on-one, and I take a hands-on approach to all that I do. As an academic probation advisor, I worked to help students improve their grades by teaching them how to study effectively and by identifying obstacles to their success. As a college counselor, I provided many of the same services but with an added focus on stress management and emotional well-being.
I am very excited to be tutoring and I look forward to working with a wide variety of student learners! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
