My name is Jordan. I am 34 years old and am approaching 18 years of formal, professional experience as a tutor. Being a tutor is the most personally fulfilling job I have ever had. The level of service I provide to my students is unique and genuine. I call my teaching style "Academic Therapy" because I utilize therapeutic techniques I was trained in while pursuing a master's degree in counseling psychology to make my students comfortable, relieve their anxiety, and build confidence. I aim to help my students feel supported and optimistic about their academic ability. I create an environment that fosters growth and encourages clients to understand how they learn. Tutoring is my life's work. My students and I are a team, and I am unwaveringly supportive of them.

I have worked as a teacher in the public school system and have 12 years experience as a private tutor. I have helped educate hundreds of students over my many years tutoring. I have been tutoring on Wyzant for a decade. I gained much of my experience working in my college's Writing and Speaking Centers for 6 years. I am the winner of two writing contests and have several academic distinctions. I have studied, been trained, and practiced as a mental health counselor and as a college counselor. I am a member of "Who's Who Among America's Universities." I have authored grants totaling over $50,000 to support the underserved parts of my community and volunteer at the Salvation Army.

Hiring me is a guarantee your tutor will listen, care, ease your mind, and go the extra mile to ensure your goals are accomplished.

Furthermore, I have studied the science of counseling psychology at the graduate level, earning 36 hours of credit, have published two scientific posters based on my own research and that of my colleagues, have presented a poster at a regional psychological conference, and am currently under peer-review to publish a scientific article in an academic journal.

ADHD,

ADHD

As someone with 150 hours of supervised experience as a counselor and who has worked at a major university as both a student counselor and vocational counselor, I have worked with a number of people suffering from ADHD and whose future plans are dependent on their reliable control of ADHD symptoms which, I'd like to add, are not entirely negative as people with ADHD are often extremely talented. Additionally, I have dealt with ADHD firsthand since childhood (I have it), and, in addition to attending several formal seminars on ADHD, learning its behavioral indicators, being trained to identify signs of ADHD via the results of psychometric testing, and taking numerous graduate-level psychology courses that deal with issues regarding ADHD, my level of experience and understanding of the issues accompanying this disorder are very high. I have been also been taught at the graduate level about several other aspects of ADHD including differences in ADHD brain morphology and function, both the harms and benefits of medications used for treatment, the pharmacology of medications used for treatment, and, finally, the symptoms, diagnostic criteria, and coping strategies used in assisting and assessing ADHD clients. ADHD is a normal part of my life and, aside from researching it heavily myself and making A's in graduate courses that focus highly on ADHD, I deal with this issue every day and can certainly relate to the challenges it presents. I can also assure anyone dealing with ADHD that it is far from impossible to overcome. Lastly, I have experience teaching basic living skills to dual-diagnosis clients (those suffering from more than one mental problem at once such as a bipolar person who also suffers from a psychotic disorder) which included numerous clients with severe, often debilitating ADHD.

Nice tutor

Went over a practice test with me and took his time. I didn't spend enough time with Jordan but would have liked to if the opportunity presented itself. Would recommend :)

Patient and helpful tutor.

I was struggling to pass an exam. Jordan is a great tutor. He tailored the lesson to help me. I had some material to pratice. I learned some great test taking strategies. I was able to pass my exam and finish my masters program. I highly recommend Jordan M to any one else that needs to pass an exam, or to pass a course.

Tutor responded:

I am extremely proud of Olivia. She was very easy to work with and was very dedicated to doing her part, which motivated me to provide her with the best experience and the highest odds of achieving her goal as possible. I was very happy to hear she passed her test by a significant margin, which did not surprise me, truthfully. Olivia's level of commitment and discipline was rare, and she was always receptive to tutoring and to incorporating what she learned into her approach to test-taking. The most rewarding part of my job is when a student reaches a major academic goal they deserve and have earned as was the case with Olivia.

Informative and patient

He was very patient, took the time to show different ways to approach the problem. I will definitely request more lessons with Jordan, he is very smart and attentive.

Tutor responded:

Sid came to me having taught herself a great deal of the material she needed to learn and with a positive, patient attitude. She advanced quickly and was able to pass a very difficult test in a course required to earn her nursing degree. I was very happy when she told me she passed the class with extra points to spare.

Great tutor

Excellent at addressing and assessing my abilities in order to excel at the praxis exam. Would highly recommend and definitely use again for any testing or tutoring needs.

Does a very good job!

Jordan is always on point with Espyn. Asking what he needs to study, what they are working on in class, etc. I don't believe we could ask for a better fit for my grandson..

Very knowledgable and patient

Jordan is tutoring my 15 year old daughter in Algebra II. He is patient when my daughter explains her difficulties with comprehending algebra a over the years. Jordan will ask Syd questions to establish the best method of instruction. He is very knowledgeable in Algebra (as in all subjects I'm sure) and understands the frustration of his pupil's need to "get the big picture". Jordan will work with schedules to fit in tutoring needs. I'm so very glad that we found him and he is helping Sydney. She already went from a C+ to a B- in two days!!!
