I began working with Jordan two months ago to prepare for the Praxis I. Passing was extremely important to me because it would allow me to be promoted and to earn a better living for my family. I hired Jordan to get extra help as I had not practiced most of the material on the test since high school. Choosing a tutor was a challenge for us. Finding Jordan was truly a gift due to his keen ability of getting to know our son and all his strengths and weaknesses. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. As someone with 150 hours of supervised experience as a counselor and who has worked at a major university as both a student counselor and vocational counselor, I have worked with a number of people suffering from ADHD and whose future plans are dependent on their reliable control of ADHD symptoms which, I'd like to add, are not entirely negative as people with ADHD are often extremely talented. Additionally, I have dealt with ADHD firsthand since childhood (I have it), and, in addition to attending several formal seminars on ADHD, learning its behavioral indicators, being trained to identify signs of ADHD via the results of psychometric testing, and taking numerous graduate-level psychology courses that deal with issues regarding ADHD, my level of experience and understanding of the issues accompanying this disorder are very high. I have been also been taught at the graduate level about several other aspects of ADHD including differences in ADHD brain morphology and function, both the harms and benefits of medications used for treatment, the pharmacology of medications used for treatment, and, finally, the symptoms, diagnostic criteria, and coping strategies used in assisting and assessing ADHD clients. ADHD is a normal part of my life and, aside from researching it heavily myself and making A's in graduate courses that focus highly on ADHD, I deal with this issue every day and can certainly relate to the challenges it presents. I can also assure anyone dealing with ADHD that it is far from impossible to overcome. Lastly, I have experience teaching basic living skills to dual-diagnosis clients (those suffering from more than one mental problem at once such as a bipolar person who also suffers from a psychotic disorder) which included numerous clients with severe, often debilitating ADHD.
In high school, I used Photoshop often. To this day, I occassionally use it, although I am slightly out-of-step with more modern Photoshop versions. That said, I am still quite competent with Photoshop and can teach the basics, plus a little more, to anyone.

I have helped many clients improve their understandings of what they read and their abilities to enhance their skills as readers. I have also worked closely teaching and mentoring high school teenagers, many of whom I have worked with in order to better their reading abilities.
I have taken the ACT (on which I made 30), the PSAT, the LSAT, and the GRE (on which I made a 1210). I have tutored many students on standardized tests, also. The math sections, in particular, are what my students typically want to work the most on; thus, I am accustomed to teaching math for standardized tests. I have worked with students on the GRE, SAT, ASVAB, LSAT, and ACT, all of which, besides the LSAT, have math sections in which students are expected to know certain aspects of various areas of mathematics. I do my best to assure all of my students that they can relax and are fully capable of doing well. I also place heavy emphasis on the need for a study/test-taking strategy. I have taken many standardized tests and have a reliable knowledge of the skills needed to do well in many of the most common tests and, as I mentioned, have tutored for the math sections of many standardized tests with successful results.
I have a BA in English, have worked for 6 years formally as a writing tutor (which often involved helping students write papers based on their own interpretations of reading assignments), and have been a heavy reader and writer my entire life. I am able to help students improve their abilities related to reading and, more importantly, to strengthen their weaknesses in reading. I have been a hobbyist songwriter for about a decade. I play multiple instruments, have a foundation in music theory, and am able to explain to others the structure of songs, how they are written, how they are played, and why/how a song "works." For instance, I may play a song and explain the chord progression, the key it's in, the time, and how one can differentiate between different sections of the song while also making the point that all music can be analyzed in this way. My ear is also well-trained, which is helpful when a client wants to sing their material. Because I have a BA in English and master's level experience in creative writing, I can also assist clients who either wish to learn how to write lyrics or who simply would like help with their own lyrics. Finally, I have worked with a large number of individuals in collaborations, which has helped me gain experience explaining ideas about music to others.
I have a great deal of experience with special needs students. I have tutored many people who have mild dyslexia and also worked as an instructor at an outpatient facility for dual-diagnosis clients, which means they have more than one mental issue. That being said, I have many hours of experience teaching students who are either autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, or have Aspergers. Lastly, I have a special place in my heart and am comfortable working with those with mental issues as I gained a great deal of experience working with my older sister, who had a severe case of cerebral palsy.

I have 6 years of experience as a tutor, a BA in English, and thus I am accustomed to teaching students positive study habits and promoting those habits. I am also a self-teacher, of sorts, which has helped me gain insight into both my own study strengths and weaknesses as well as those of others. As a reader in a wide array of subjects, historical periods, and genres, vocabulary is an area in which my knowledge is always expanding. I have been told that my vocabulary is outstanding throughout my life without my trying to show it off. I also have a BA in English and have undergone 12 hours of graduate-level creative writing courses-- so vocabulary has always been important to me if for no other reason than it was necessary in completing my education. Lastly, I have had to use my vocabulary effectively as a grant writer, public speaker, counselor, author, and tutor.
I have taken several history courses at the high school and undergraduate level, making A's and B's in all of them. Furthermore, while earning my BA, much of the required reading was historical in nature; this greatly advanced my knowledge of history. I like to teach history because, if explained correctly, it can be very interesting and surprisingly funny, which I believe makes it easier for students to recall when tested. In my spare time, I often read books and watch documentaries about history, which, albeit subtly, sharpens my understanding of the historical record and makes me even more competent to tutor clients in history.
