University of Advancing Computer Technology
My impressive skills are due in part to a great education. I attended University of Advancing Technology (UAT) where I obtained my BA in Multimedia Development, and graduated with a 4.0 GPA as a valedictorian candidate. This degree cross-trained me in multiple web and graphic design softwares and applications, some of which I have become expert in. I also earned an AA in Visual Communication from Collins College, which started the design ball rolling for me. I also bring a wealth of experience as a seasoned businessman to the table. From my many years of owning a small corporation, I developed a keen sense of what it takes to be successful. I totally understand what people are looking for and consider myself an excellent communicator, both visually and verbally.
I pride myself in my excellent design and multimedia skills. My strengths are in Photoshop, InDesign, Dreamweaver and other Adobe Creative Suite applications. John is highly recommended for the above topics. Very nice guy, easy to work with. It's hard to express in words how great he is to work with and how much he is able to teach in an enjoyable way.
John was great! He was able to fix a problem in Dreamweaver I had struggled with for some time, and did it in a very limited time constraint. Thanks John! I'll call again when I get in a jam.
John is great to work with. He is very knowledgeable with Dreamweaver and Photoshop and was able to relate to my specific needs. I am currently trying to reformat an existing website and John has been able to teach me some tools and procedures that would have taken me hours to discover on my own or with manuals. I am also trying to develop a website for a new business and John's experience with design and willingness to help create this new site has taken my stress away. His creative design ideas surpassed my expectations and he really puts effort into making sure he is teaching me what I need to know for my specific projects. John's web skills and eye for design are making my learning experience enjoyable as well as being cost effective. I highly recommend John to anyone who wants to learn creative web development using Dreamweaver.
John does a really good job finding out what you need, and how much his clients can bite off themselves. I am really pleased with the results of our work together.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
In my four years as a Marketing Coordinator for a large construction firm, I prepared (from scratch) nearly 100 large project proposals books, all using InDesign. This powerful print editing tool is a perfect program to edit brochures, periodicals, books and any layout that is destined for print and/or high resolution output. When combined with Photoshop, it gives the developer an awesome one/two punch to tackle any size print project with professional looking results.
I have over 8 years experience with Adobe Photoshop, versions CS1 - CS5. I have been an active graphic designer with my own freelance business since 2006 and worked in a corporate setting as a designer for 4 years.
I have been a web designer for over 7 years now and Dreamweaver has been my tool of choice. I believe it is the finest web editor available and it's ease of use makes it a perfect choice for the beginner.
I have built nearly 40 websites using Dreamweaver, many dynamic and I try to stick with pure CSS design with minimal tables.
I have been a computer professional for better than a decade now and have an advanced degree in Digital Multimedia. This extensive experience has given me a clear understanding of the power of computers and how they work, both on a Mac and PC platform.
My first home computer, purchased in 1995, was a Mac. Since then, I've owned four and currently develop on a desktop based IMac. While I am equally fluent with PC based applications, I have always loved the Mac experience and usually it is my "go to" machine for web and print design and development.
Being a web and graphic designer requires a good eye and the ability to spot a great shot when you seen one. A good photo is only as good as the camera and person taking it. While today's digital cameras make this easy, good photography is like good design, it takes skill. I pride myself on being an excellent photographer who often takes many of the photos used for my websites and print materials. I also take many pics for my clients when they are needed for projects I am developing for them. They know I will take great shots and get the ones I want for the job.
Good web design requires a good foundation. I became a graphic designer before I became a web designer and I am glad I did. Many aspects of web design apply directly to the web. Of course the big difference is learning how to manipulate code and css into good looking rendered pages. This takes time and skill. I believe I'm a skilled front end web designer and I understand complex web based applications such as dynamic sites, e-commerce and search engine optimization.
