I am a retired special education teacher with 25 years in Jefferson Parish. My passion is working with the special needs student; however, I do work with regular education students that are struggling. I am patient and can spend hours working on the same skills--I simply back up and try a different approach. I have helped special education students achieve when others have given up on the student. I have work experience with the mild/moderate population, autistic, and emotionally disturbed students.

I work one-on-one with the student on missing skills or weekly homework. I specialize in organizational skills, remedial reading, written language and remedial math skills. I feel students do better if they are on a schedule and know that I will help them with specific things during our time together.

I can come to your home only if adults are present. I also will meet older students in a public place.

Very Patient Tutor

Kathy seems very patient as she gets to know my son and discovering where his learning deficiency lie. Andrew seems very comfortable with her gentle teacher demeanor. I have a high level of confidence that she will be able to help Andrew learn the skills he's been lacking to succeed in his various classes.

Very Understanding and Cooperative

My son has been tutored by Kathy for months in an effort to obtain his GED. My son required a tutor who understood children with ADHD. Kathy understands his difficulties in learning and moves at a pace he can tolerate. She is patient, understanding, and cooperative. She works with him on meeting times and location. Very good tutor.

This woman goes above and beyond!

Kathy has been great with 2 special students. They need a lot of patience and encouragement, and she has met that and more. She has shown more interest, given her personal time, and has been a great help for these 2 students. I appreciate all that she is doing.

Very patient and understanding

Kathy was great with our daughter. Our daughter had a meltdown and Kathy helped her work through it. I think this tutor/student relationship will be successful because of Kathy's calm demeanor and kindness. Thank you Kathy!
