I believe that tutoring isn't about giving solutions to homework but about trying to get the students to solve problems by themselves in order to overcome their difficulties. One of the best tools is the ability to listen to students as well as to try to figure what they are missing or to what they did not pay enough attention. I have been practicing this for years, starting when I was back in my hometown in Cameroon, then later on in Russia where I had my undergraduate studies. Now, I am in the U.S., and it is a new challenge in this country where I admit most of the time people want answers more than the reasons why they can't solve certain problems.
I have the certificates to teach high school mathematics, mathematics in higher educational institutions, and translations from English to Russian and from French to Russian.
I have also received an M.S. in statistics. I can handle tutoring sessions with any math/stats-related course up to graduate-level courses.
I have been tutoring for a very long time. I can help with topics from the following subject areas:
- Algebra (Linear and abstract)
- Geometry (Vector and Analytic)
- Precalc, Prealgebra;
- Real analysis (Introduction, LP staces, Sobolev, Distributions and applications to PDE ...)
- Numerical analysis (Techniques)
- Probability theory
- Ordinary differential equations,
- Partial differential equations,
- Stochastic processes
- Statistics, advanced statistics
- Applied statistics, regression, linear models;
- Time series; Survival analysis, Logistic regression
and many others.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have done some work on this topic. It is one of the basic things one needs to know in mathematics. I am now Assistant Professor of mathematics, hold Two Masters degrees and a PhD in mathematics.
