Hello there! I'm Kathryn. I received my bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University and my master's degree from Rowan University where I earned a 4.0 GPA. At Rowan, I was awarded the Donald Bagin Graduate Award, which is awarded each year to one graduate who shows great potential in the field. I am certified to teach 1st through 5th grade and middle school English and History. I have been teaching in public schools in Louisiana and Mississippi for seven years and have taught the following: 3rd and 4th grade (all subjects), 7th and 8th grade English, and Intro to Newspaper (an elective offered to 7th and 8th graders). In addition to teaching in public schools, I taught online English lessons to ELL students in China, and I was a contributor at two newspapers and a magazine in Louisiana.
I enjoy tutoring one-on-one because we are better able to take the material at the student's pace, rather than move at the pace of a class. I have privately tutored individual students at their homes as well as small groups of students after school. I love helping students master a particular skill that they’ve struggled with in the past. It’s such an accomplishment to help them meet their goals, and it feels great to see their confidence grow.
