About Amanda

Hi, my name is Amanda! I am a senior at University and my major is Forensic Science. My ultimate goal is to work for the FBI someday. I have previous tutoring experience at my community college and I currently work part time for them as an office assistant. I enjoy helping people learn and I love to continue to learn new things everyday.

I have always enjoyed reading and proofreading. When I came to college I was offered an opportunity to tutor in English and Humanities. I really enjoyed helping people improve in their writing and reading skills.

When I was seventeen I dropped out of High School. I don't regret it, however, I know this makes it much harder when trying to get into college. I was lost without guidance of what needed to be done to get into college. I took my GED and did very well, then I called the schools to see what had to be done next. I feel I am qualified to tutor in GED test preparation because I have been there and done well. As for college counseling, I have worked for a department at my college called Student Support Services for two years now. SSS is a program that counsels students who are the first in there family to go to college, low income students. and students with disabilities. Although I am not a counselor, I have been involved in helping students choose career paths. I also know the objectives that must be completed to be admitted and registered into college.

I am a very organized and motivated worker. My favorite thing is to help people achieve their goals. If you need help please contact me, I would be more than willing to help you succeed.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

College Counseling

I am qualified to offer college counseling because I currently work for student support services at PRCC. Throughout my time at SSS I have learned what needs to be done to be admitted and registered into college. I have worked for SSS for two years, in that time I have done things such as; help complete FASFA applications, tutored in English and Humanities courses, completed files, among other clerical work, contacted Financial Aid and Admissions to check on students status, and assisted with our Summer Bridge program which helps students transition into college.
