I'm an R.N. with a master's degree in higher and adult education from the University of Missouri and a B.S. in natural science (biology, anatomy, physiology, physics, chemistry, microbiology, botany, genetics, math, etc.). My paid professional teaching experience spans more than 40 years, and I have been with Wyzant since 2010.

My clinical nursing specialty was critical care and I was certified as a critical care nurse (CCRN). Later in my career after earning my graduate degree in education I worked in the areas of staff development, quality improvement, compliance, risk management and patient safety. My clinical experience includes emergency nursing, flight nursing, home health/hospice, ambulatory care, managed care, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, oncology, open heart, cardiac care, burn unit, trauma (Level I), neonatal ICU, pediatrics/pediatric ICU and long term care. While working as a flight nurse I was also a licensed paramedic (EMT-P), as required by Texas state law.

I have worked with individuals with various disabilities as an RN, and as a professional service dog trainer.

I have taught many different subjects, including nursing, critical care, biology, human anatomy, adult development and learning, emergency medical technology (EMTs and paramedics), advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), medical assisting, healthcare informatics (Cerner Millennium) and many other topics, including non-clinical topics such as statistics, quality management concepts, compliance, time management, Excel, dog training using clicker technology, dog bite prevention, various sports, aerobic exercise, dance and more.

As a professional adult educator and RN I am very experienced in applying adult learning principles and concepts, and tailor the learning experience to the individual needs of my students.

In addition to being a Registered Nurse (current active license in the State of Missouri) and certified substitute teacher (State of Missouri), I'm a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers), certified clicker trainer (Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training & Behavior), and own and operate a professional dog training business which I founded in 2009. I'm a member of the National Tutoring Association, and the Association for Professional Dog Trainers.

Mostly I teach dog owners how to train their dogs (using force-free positive reinforcement methods and clicker technology) and do behavior consultations for owners with dogs that have fear and aggression. Occasionally I train dogs for people or organizations. Because of my business I have had to brush up on my knowledge of operant and classical conditioning, and so have current expertise in applied behavior analysis which I can share with psychology students. I have continued my education in animal behavior as well as training.

I can also help students with writing; I'm an experienced, published writer and have worked with many different editors over the years.

Incredibly Helpful!

It was an incredible experience having Lucinda as my tutor! Lucinda was always well prepared to tutor me exactly what I needed for my Critical Care class. She did a lot of preparation of material in advance, sent great resources related to topics, and answered all my questions during and after lessons. She was not moving ahead with the material until she was sure I fully understood it. Lucinda goes over and beyond every session. She has tremendous patience, is easy to work with and is highly accommodating with time and schedule. I highly recommend Lucinda to anybody who is looking for a professional tutor in any nursing subject. She is incredibly helpful!
