About Richard

I have been teaching classes in Graduate and Undergraduate Business at Webster University for 28 years in addition to being a corporate finance director for a major St. Louis Company. I have been a management consultant for the past 10 years, and have trained/tutored business owners across the US. I have taught international students in Bermuda.

I have held special tutoring sessions with many students and small groups of students to insure that they understood the course material well enough to pass and complete their education.

My teaching goal is to unravel the confusion that usually leads to panic and failure. Most students do not recognize how much of a subject they actually know or how to proceed when attempting to solve a problem. My tutoring approach builds on the strengths they have and provides them with the methodology to correctly apply them.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Finance

Introductory course integrating concepts of corporate finance with investments and the money/capital markets. Topics include the role of money in the economy; the time value of money; financial analysis and planning; security valuation and capital market theory; capital budgeting; short- and long-term financing; and working capital management. Value maximization and risk/return tradeoffs in financial decision making are employed as integrative concepts throughout the course.
