About Ethan

I'm Ethan! I'm a sophomore at Missouri State University majoring in Accounting and Computer Information Systems. Throughout high school and what college I've completed so far, I've always found helping people learn both satisfying and simple. In calculus, I learned that the best way for me to learn was through helping my friends and acquaintances understand the concepts being taught. We'd work together through every problem, step by step, asking questions about anything that didn't make sense, and that's a system that worked all year, and I plan on using that system for tutoring.

As a National Honor Society alumni, I recognize the importance of academic success and have every desire to help students understand subjects they may be struggling with. In addition, I've taken many ACT prep courses and know how to best prepare students for that rigorous test. In the system we used, we did a different practice test for each section every time we met, and after we were done, we went over every question. Since this system helped raise my score upwards of three or four points, I feel like this system is highly effective and I'm excited to put it into use.

My senior year of high school, I took Calculus for college credit, which relies heavily on Prealgebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Trigonometry. I'm currently in statistics, accounting, and programming classes, again, all of which are heavily based in math, and I have always found teaching people to be the best way to learn. As far as ACT Math goes, I scored a 32 on the mathematics subsection of the test, and having taken the ACT five times, I know what is expected of students taking the test.

On my last time taking the ACT, I scored a 35 on the reading subset. The ACT prep classes I took taught me all the tips and tricks I needed to know to get through the readings quickly and effectively, and I'm eager to pass said tricks on.

I want to do as much as I can for anyone I'm tutoring, so if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions I would love to hear them. I always have my phone on me and under normal circumstances I should be able to respond within the hour, so feel free to shoot me a message if you want to set up a session!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I've taken math through Calculus and I'm currently in a stats class and a programming class that require me to use algebra on a day to day basis.

Algebra 2

As an Accounting and Computer Information Systems major, math has been and is a crucial component of my studies, and Algebra 2, specifically, is used in most all of my classes.

C#

I've taken both a Java and C# introductory class and the logic is incredibly similar; it's just the specific syntax that's different. I've assisted my classmates in both of these classes, and I was able to help them gain a broader understanding of the logics involved in programming.

Financial Accounting

As an Accounting major who has actually taken accounting classes, I know the subject material needed for someone struggling in accounting, or even someone who just needs a refresher or two.

Managerial Accounting

As an Accounting major who has actually taken accounting classes, I know the subject material needed for someone struggling in accounting, or even someone who just needs a refresher or two.

Prealgebra

I've gone through Calculus my senior year, and I've used concepts from prealgebra in my schooling since 7th grade, which, as a student in college, is quite a while.
