Hello! I'm Lydia. I have a master's degree in social work from Louisiana State University. I earned my undergraduate degree from University of Illinois at Springfield. Summer of 2021 I passed the LMSW licensure test. I have four professional years of tutoring experience. I however, tutored peers in high school as well, and found it to be a passion of mine.

I have experience working in a grade school and a high school as a paraprofessional, assisting students with learning disabilities. I have worked with students who have dyslexia, dyscalculia, ADHD, autism, anxiety, bipolar disorder, test anxiety, and cognitive impairment. I enjoy finding new ways to learn and help others learn.

I worked with students who had ADHD for four years professionally and learned several ways to help them stay engaged with the curriculum and learn the materials. I ran a study skills classroom for two years and taught students how to manage their time, create to do lists, how to prioritize, and organizational skills.

My job is to help you learn and I will do so in any way I can. I'm easy to reach, and will respond quickly. I am happy to answer any additional questions you have, and look forward to working with you!

I worked with husband on obtaining his F-1 Visa before he entered the United States 3.5 years ago. I spent months of 2020 working on my husband's green card application as his sponsor. We are currently going through the second round of renewing his green card because we were married within two years of applying for the green card. We have been through the marriage green card interview as well, and been asked to submit an RFE (request for evidence) because USCIS lost some of our paperwork. I worked with an immigration company (Boundless) on my husband's green card paperwork and learned a lot from them.

Down to the wire

When you can relate to your tutor on a personal level and they can understand your background and why you are where you are, that in itself provides comfort and confidence. Lydia has done that for me through all my sessions.

Excellent

She was so patient with my daughter (she had add) teaching her math, taking her step by step trying to keep her focused the whole lesson. Glade to work with her.

Not a setback

As a current student who hasn't been in multiple years, there's things you need to sharpen, re-learn, or in this case learn brand new. I appreciate having a tutor who is invested and is willing to state I need more time. Having a realistic tutor who is honest, caring, and flexible makes one more confident in the future. That's Lydia.

Believe in yourself like she does!

Ive had many sessions with Lydia. As we get closer to test time, her belief and demeanor within me remains the same while my anxiety rises. Having that presented peace she gives however, lets me know shes truly invested in her students to succeed. By doing so in my case, she provides the calming encouragement that's needed in "crunch time" which in turn also provides reassurance. If you're looking for someone who's willing to take the time and remind you that you're more than just capable, she's it!

having fun

Lydia gives lead way to her students on what they feel they need to work on. She has a talent in guiding the student on determining what that is as well. Another great lesson.

Very happy with my tutor. She empowers me to be more confident in my reasoning and choices. She expresses patience when I'm not as knowledgeable or understanding. Thus far, I could not ask for better. I'm thankful.
