I believe all students deserve to have educators who believe they can excel and accomplish their goals. My job is to help make that happen and to build confidence for moving forward. I hold a bachelor's degree in journalism and a Master's Degree in English Education and Communication, having graduated with a 4.0 and honors. I believe all students deserve to have educators who believe they can excel and accomplish their goals. My job is to help make that happen and to build confidence for moving forward. I hold a bachelor's degree in journalism and a Master's Degree in English Education and Communication, having graduated with a 4.0 and honors. Helping students find their potential and grow as learners is the greatest joy.
I first realized my love for teaching in my marketing career when I helped employees who felt stagnant by guiding them to acquire new skills that led to advancement. When they succeeded, I shared in their joy! I also tutored students and adults in acting (another passion of mine) at my director's request. When teachers and students both told me "You should be a teacher!", I realized helping others grow and teaching them to enjoy learning was my purpose.
For 18 years, I taught English and Journalism for middle school, high school, and college. Students who've told me they can't write become amazing writers. Students who used to dread English class shared that my class was their favorite. I believe everyone is a learner, but we all learn in different ways. Helping a student find their strengths and confidence is the best part of being a teacher. I still hear from former students who share that I played a role in their college and professional success.

My love for writing and literature is contagious, and once a person finds their voice in writing, the rest of the skills follow and become an art. Additionally, enjoying the art of language also removes the fear some may feel with using and understanding vocabulary. When students walk away from my lessons, they feel like learners whose voices and perceptions matter and whose writing reflects that.

I support everyone's journey in learning. I'd be honored to help you on the way. As your tutor, I'll not only help you with your lessons, I'll help you build the confidence you need to move forward on your own.

ACT English

Taking the ACT doesn't have to be a stressful experience. As a teacher of juniors, I helped my juniors develop the techniques needed to confidently complete the ACT and earn the scores needed to attend the colleges of their choosing.
English

English

I've taught English for 17 years primarily at the high school level. I've spent the last three years teaching middle school English and have taught college English as an adjunct faculty member.
Grammar

Grammar

As a teacher, I'm a specialist in teaching grammar. Prior to being a teacher, my job as a writer and proofreader required my grammar skills to be used on a daily basis not only for my quality writing but for my companies' presentations and client materials.
Literature

Literature

I love teaching literature and helping students find the deeper meanings. Whether it's teaching Shakespeare or modern literature, I've helped many students appreciate and comprehend literature in all genres.
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

My love of language is contagious when teaching students how to develop their vocabulary with precise, descriptive language in their writing. I also can help students recognize the context clues in writing that reveal the meanings of unfamiliar words.
Writing

Writing

I've taught journalistic writing, creative writing, and essay writing for 17 years. In college, I wrote a full-length play and later produced it in St. Louis. Prior to being a teacher, I was a copywriter for marketing agencies. I love writing and write poetry, plays, prose, and my blog whenever I can find the time.
