Hi, there! My name is Olivia, and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private sewing lessons since 2019 and run a non-profit called the Olivia Rae Design Academy dedicated to teaching sewing skills to children and adults. I believe this skill helps develop other soft skills such as patience, persistence and problem-solving abilities which leads to a well-rounded individual.

I specialize in teaching all skill levels and love helping my students develop and improve. From beginners to intermediate adult sewist to children ages 8-14, I will customize our lessons to fit your specific sewing goals. One of my most recent students went from a complete beginner to sewing her baby shower outfit. I am very proud to share this because it shows the result of my excellent beginners' curriculum and her creativity. What will you make?

A little about me:

I have been sewing for the past 10 years and attended Columbia College Chicago to deepen my understanding of design and sewing. Throughout the years, I have showcased collections in over 20 fashion shows around the country including DC Fashion Week, Mathews Dickie Sheer Elegance Fashion Show and many more. I am very passionate about creating with my hands and turning plain pieces of fabric into wearable art. I'm a lighthearted and open-minded person who will work with you at your pace. My teaching style embraces patience and the thinking method, so you leave class knowing how to think through sewing problems and finish your projects. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!
