I am a recent graduate of Washington University in Saint Louis with a B.A. in Chemistry and a minor in Computer Science. I took the MCAT after graduation and scored a 524 (100th percentile). I spent my undergrad tutoring students in many subjects, including chemistry, computer science, and physics. I have 4+ yrs of experience in mentoring my peers, and I would love to help you succeed in whatever areas you are struggling, whether that's with a particular MCAT subsection or that one chemistry...

Her help made all the difference!
I cannot express enough how much Lucy has helped me with the MCAT! To give some background info, I've taken the MCAT before, but I did not score my test. I reached out to Lucy because I was a full time worker so I wanted a tutor to help me with the content I struggled in and basically keep me accountable when I'm feeling lazy. Lucy did all that and more! From our first session, she took the time to make a decked out schedule for me - each day told me what subject to study, how many chapters to read, and how many passages to do. This is just what I needed because it helped me to break down the MCAT into manageable bits and be more accountable for what I needed to do. She started doing content review with physics (my absolute worst subject) and it completely changed how I approached MCAT physics. She was able to explain everything in ways that I would understand it. I haven't taken physics in over 4 years, and she had always been patient and unassuming about what I did and did not know. For Bio and Biochem, I always struggled with how to approach the passages - I had a hard time with picking and choosing what parts of the passage are important, understanding what anything even meant and how to even read a chart LOL. Her step by step advice, her tips/tricks, and slowly going over each graph/experiment made all the difference! Bio ended up being one of my strongest sections because of her help and she made me realize that you don't have to know every single fact or piece of information. Instead, she taught me how to be a smart test taker and recognize patterns. I think that her greatest quality is how she makes her students critical thinkers rather than just giving the answer. If I ever get a question wrong, she encourages me explain why I chose that answer so that she can correct my train of thought or correct any misconceptions. When I don't know what the answer is, she guides me there rather than just telling me the answer. Even when I took the MCAT, I would hear her voice asking me "why did you choose this answer?" and that makes me think more critically. I'm so lucky to have found such a great and patient tutor. I went from a 498 --> 516 on my practice tests. I have the highest praise for her. The only way I was able to take the MCAT while working full time is with her help. She is truly the best!!!

Guaranteed improvement
When preparing for the MCAT, I went through a handful of tutors—and I wish I had found Lucy earlier. It was difficult trying to find someone who was extremely knowledgeable but also patient and kind, and who had the right balance between sharing tricks and insight on some topics, and going into depth on others that were more high yield. When coming to Lucy with a list of questions, she knew exactly the question I was talking about, the right amount of information to share/ teach, and she made everything clear and conscience. No time was wasted and were able to tackle my whole list of problems in just an hour. Before meeting with Lucy it was hard to break the barrier in my practice scores, but just after two weeks working with her I was able to move up 10+ points. Lucy has a great grasp on the exam overall and is definitely able to make you feel confident going into test day. She also replies to messages super fast!

Must-Have MCAT Tutor
Lucy is amazing and so patient! My C/P and B/B section started at 122/121 and now they are at 125/124, which is a 6 point increase only after a few weeks of tutoring. She breaks down how to interpret passages and provides awesome tips on how to to quickly find the right answer. If you're feeling lost or overwhelmed and haven't seen a score increase, definitely schedule time with Lucy.
