Whether I'm working with a child learning to navigate a kitchen or to apply algebraic concepts, I love being a part of those "AHA" moments when understanding takes place. In an individualized setting, children tend to feel more confident to ask the questions they need to ask to access understanding.

I work with a student's strengths to facilitate comprehension of mathematical concepts and fundamental Reading skills, and always practice patience, explicit praise, and understanding. We all learn differently and it is my goal to find ways to make the subject meaningful for your child.

I have over 20 years experience working in various educational settings- from daily living skills to elementary grade level academic. I am certified to teach General Education Elementary and Special Education in Texas and Missouri and have a bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswego in Broadcasting. I love to teach and strive to invest in lifelong learning.

When it comes to learning Reading skills, many of us experience struggle. Decoding and comprehending the English language can be tough. I believe it is paramount that students are presented with an avenue that allows them to enjoy reading, subsequently removing the "chore" feeling many children experience when struggling with reading. This is key to building that intrinsic motivation that increases practice naturally.

The majority of my work in education has been spent with students who benefit from individualized task analysis, repetition, work habit formation and foundational Reading skill work. I enjoy meeting students where they are at in order to help them build a relevant path to success.

I enjoy answering questions to make the subject relevant to today's world and believe we need to encourage our children to learn through critical thinking.

Please contact me through Wyzant with any further questions. Your child's learning is the priority.

Makes the lesson fun.

I can see my 2nd grader confidence in his reading growing, thanks to Amy. I'm very pleased and we are both looking forward to our weekly lessons. Amy is very easy going and encouraging. My 2nd grader is getting the help he needs while also having fun.

Grabbed his attention!

Our 1st session went very well with Amy. I explained to her my 1st graders reading needs and areas of concern and she jumped right in and got to work with him. She captured his attention and he was very engaged in the lesson, which is great being he has ADHD. We look forward to working with her. My son actually gave her 5 stars after the call and he’s a very hard critic lol.
