My name is Kelly and I am available to all individuals of all ages including college level, undergraduate and graduate students.

I am an experienced & licensed Special Education Teacher, knowledgeable in the IEP process, & certified to work with kindergarten-12th Grade, Reading, Reading Comprehension, Written Expression, Reading Fluency, Math Computation & Reasoning, Autism Spectrum Exceptional learners, & Social -Emotional Concerns.

Growing up, I was diagnosed with ADD while also being deemed "Gifted," and school was my favorite place to be! I excelled at academics, gymnastics, tennis, swimming & all the while, my self-confidence and shy demeanor as a young adolescent hurt me. I had the best teachers and a lot of love and resilience, so I turned out alright....I think so.

SO...that is a little about me & my driving force to become an Educator, School Psychologist Grad, Complete two Master Degrees in Applied Educational Psychology and The Art of Teaching and teach in public schools for over 10 years.

Additionally, I love to learn and teach; however, as a learner, I truly love helping others overcome some ADD/ADHD obstacles. I am available to help with study skills and the overwhelming neurological functions that manifest in ways that make everyday life a bit of a struggle. For some, day-to-day functioning can be very difficult and simple tasks, obstacles, transitions, starting and finishing projects, following through with plans, missed appointments....... may be hard to conquer, & overcome.

I realized that facing the procrastination, negative self-perceptions, thinking too much, and Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTS....."go away ANTS" ....) takes time, patience & work. I know the tricks of the trade and have definitely learned to use my attention deficits and busy mind to my advantage when attacking simple tasks.

I am a mother of a 19-year-old son, a teacher, an animal lover, a talker, and I really love to get good sleep (sleep is so important)!!!!!

I understand what it means to be exceptional; I have a true gift helping Individuals with ADD/ADHD and understand the behavioral implications and how one's social environment is affected by the manifestations of attention deficits, neurological differences, impulsivity, indecisiveness, perception of one's self and how we "think." Oftentimes, we become easily overwhelmed with timelines, pleasing others, maintaining focus and task completion, self-doubt; but, it is important to remember the very wonderful gifts that are overlooked and misunderstood by others. We can be irrationally fearful of approachable goals, life transitions, attempting challenging tasks and social events. School work is difficult when our brains our in charge of our bodies and when we get unregulated and pervasively non committal........we tend to blame ourselves and give up easily. I can help you through many obstacles, organization, and teach you how to use metacognition to "think about your thinking," overcome anxieties and fears, even if it means coaching you through a step-by-step problem or task when our brains get stuck and need a like minded tutor and coach to redirect the procrastination, perfectionism, sensory influences and some executive functioning that clouds our perception and negatively impacts our everyday lives.

I would love to come to you and build an amazing rapport, while aligning curriculum and learning objectives with your home school's vision and mission, adhere to the Individual Education Plan legal implications of the Individual Disability Education Act, while having fun while learning. I love a challenge, have a warm and empathic personality with a lot of patience and I have the ability to create healthy boundaries and high expectations our of each individual student based on their developmental level, chronological age, abilities, strengths, weaknesses, restricted areas of interest, sensory needs and attention to extraneous stimuli and one's environment, change, transition(s) Individual learning style (auditory, sensory, visual, movement) and am a huge fan of brain-based learning. I approach each student with a whole-child philosophy of instructional methodology using only research-based instructional methods, standards, interventions and I have a significant personal interest in working with children, youth, and all individuals with an identified limitation, or, rather an identified disability (I like to say ABILITY for dis means "can't").
