Hello! My name is Jonah S.-Z. I live in the beautiful city of Saint Louis, home of the Saint Louis arch and the gooey butter cake, and the significantly less popular provel pizza. I have studied physics at the graduate level, and recently obtained my PhD; my research focused on mathematical modeling of the mechanics of endocytosis, a biological process in yeast cells. I've tutored a several times over the years, and have been a teaching assistant in various physics labs. I think tutoring is super fun, because it helps more students discover their passions and acquire the skills they need to accomplish their life goals, as well as reinforcing my knowledge of topics on which I wouldn't otherwise be focusing.

I have a PhD in Physics from Washington University in Saint Louis. My research was primarily theoretical modeling, involving analysis, partial differential equations, variational calculus and of course piles of algebra! I also am familiar with developing and implementing mathematical models through code.

My research also focused on modeling the physics of biological systems: the mechanics of proteins, the dynamics of cell membrane bending, and the diffusion of biomolecules. I've studied various areas of physics in some depth, with classical and statistical physics being particular areas of interest. I've previously tutored in physics at the high school and college levels.

I'm a proficient English speaker who has taken college courses in grammar and literature. I read broadly and have a passion for language and I have tutored people for the reading and grammar sections of standardized tests.

For information about tutoring, please send me a message. I'm usually available for in-person tutoring in Saint Louis, Missouri, or online tutoring from anywhere.

Knowledgeable tutor

GRE Mathematics. He is good and mindful of time, but a little impatient with the in person process... Teaching and learning is a symbiotic process. I would do more sessions with him for Maths, but online.

Nidhi, 2 lessons with Jonah

Great tutor!

Jonah is very knowledgeable and broke down a complex topic in a way I could understand. Would highly recommend for anyone who needs help with mathematical problems.

John, 1 lesson with Jonah

Jonah is terrific for math majors in college

Jonah is patient, thorough, and he shows caring and empathy, as well is interest in success. Jonah is patient, thorough, and he shows caring and empathy, as well is interest in success.
