About Jennifer

Hello! I am a recent graduate of the University of Arizona - and I just got back home from the Ecuadorian Amazon! I've tutored and taught at high schools, at my university, with native English speakers, international students, students with language/learning disorders - all sorts of people - both in the United States and around South America. I love learning and sharing what I've studied, as well as making grammar and vocabulary relatable. We'll talk about how you best learn, what you most want to learn, and get started from there. It's nice to meet you! Mucho gusto! Muito prazer!

I've tutored students and friends on the TOEFL - both in Mexico and in Brazil. I also received my TEFL certification from the University of Arizona, where I worked with international students (from Saudi Arabia, China, Costa Rica, and more!) on their academic English skills. Finally, I worked as a writing tutor for a year at the University of Arizona.

I love to teach and speak Spanish! I studied Hispanic Linguistics as my university major, and went to central Mexico for two summers of study. For the past 6 months, I've been teaching English in an Ecuadorian elementary school, and had to communicate myself VERY well in Spanish to direct classes for the teachers and students. For Portuguese, I lived in Brazil for a year and taught English classes at a local university. I still stay in touch with many of my international friends, and hope to share those lessons with others.

If there's something I can teach that you'd like to learn, reach out to me! We'll work together on this, no worries. It's all about you engaging in the learning process and reaching your goals, with just some guided support from me. Thanks! Gracias! Obrigada!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
