About Annie

I have a passion for working with kids and am currently working towards a Master's degree in child and adolescent counseling. I have over 10 years of experience with working with kids. Most recently, I have served as a volunteer tutor for refugee students in St. Louis City. I also have worked with at-risk youth, children with developmental delays, and children with ADHD.
While completing my undergraduate degree, roughly half of my coursework was in Education.

I have taken classes on how to teach gifted students, special education, reading, math and more. I love to use each child's individual interests to spark a love of learning. Whether its teaching math with Legos or using crafts to learn letters - I love finding unique ways to reach students where they are at.

I took a course specifically on how to teach elementary students mathematics. One of the children I tutor now struggles in math and we have been working on his skills for over a year now.

Most of my elective courses in college were in literature, grammar and writing.

I have taken over 15 credit hours of teaching specifically in elementary schools. And I have a flexible schedule, can work with kids of all ages and abilities, and would love to help your student achieve their academic goals!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
