I am an engineer with educational and applied math experience

Dante H.
Hello! I'm Dante, I have recently graduated from UT Tyler and am currently working as an engineer in the Tyler, TX area. While in college, I tutored algebra, statistics, calculus, trig, and many other topics for the Math Learning Center in the UT Tyler Mathematics Department.

I thoroughly enjoy helping people learn math, as it is something I am passionate about and that I use extensively on a regular basis. I emphasize a conceptual understanding of the material at hand, not a memorized...

Elementary Math

Algebra 1,
#### Algebra 1

I have taken many, many classes that require basic algebra 1 skills. So many Algebra 1 is second nature to me. I have taught these skills for years as well.

Algebra 2,
#### Algebra 2

Algebra II is the foundation for Pre-Calculus. As you can likely infer, the topics covered in this curriculum are also second nature to me. I like to take my time with students when helping with this subject given the magnitude of laws learned in Algebra I that need to be well understood but are often times not so. Graphical explanations are the best way to gain conceptual understanding of what they (the students) are learning.

Calculus,
#### Calculus

I finished my senior studies with a theoretical model of a open thermodynamic system using an upper-level calculus technique - the Laplace Transform. I appreciate the beauty of calculus as it is a tool to describe the moving world around us quantitatively. Again, I emphasize a conceptual understanding of each problem for each student instead of pushing them through it and them resulting in just memorizing formulas and steps. I will often point out physical applications where the concepts apply.

Physics
#### Physics

I use the tools learned in my calculus classes to apply them to Newton's Laws of motion, to Bernoulli's relationship, and many more phenomena covered in university physics curriculum. I went through four years of thermodynamic, fluid mechanic, static and dynamic physics classes. Physics is the most fun topic to teach since the concepts to not have to be pointed out, most people experience them every day.

## Great Tutor!

We reviewed my Business Calculus classwork. I failed Test 2 and did not have a good grasp on the Calculus rules and how to apply them. We worked through quite a few problems in an hour and Dante helped me see what I had done incorrectly. I feel more confident and believe I will be able to progress through this class. One thing to note, Dante talked to me about not getting psyched out before my next test. I will take that to heart and try to remain calm when I walk into Test 3 and 4.

## Easy Going and Experienced

Dante has made the impossible and made me feel excited about math, looking forward to passing my semester. He makes sure you understand everything that is being covered, and is very approachable if you have any questions. It is ok to be wrong and not have a clue of what's going on, he is there to get you on track. I am thankful to have found and picked him to help me on this journey.
