As an advantage, Nic is a native English speaker. He has a strong mechanical background in how language works, and it really shows when you need to understand the more technical aspects of construction, rather than just asking how to say "hello." If anyone is put off by the fact that he isn't Japanese, rest assured he will give you a solid foundation and even some of the more advanced material.
