About Charlene

I've been a teacher at a public school for 14 years. I taught taught grade (every subject) for nine years, then moved into a reading specialist job in the same district. I work with students kindergarten through ninth grade in remedial reading and some remedial math. I been trained in the Orton Gillingham method for students reading at a kindergarten through third grade level.

I have a BA from SLU in elementary education, a MS in Literacy education and an education specialist degree in administration from SIUE, and I completed STEMS training through Lindenwood University. I've also taught remedial classes for a few years at a junior college.

I taught 3rd grade math for nine years, I teach some remedial math to 4th & 5th graders now, I've completed STEMs training through Lindenwood University.

I was a third grade teacher for nine years. I have a masters degree in literacy education, have a reading specialist professional teaching license, and am Orton Gillingham trained. I currently work as a reading specialist in a public school in grade kindergarten through eighth.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Common Core

I am a teacher at an Illinois public school. Common Core State Standards are our state standards. Our students take the PARCC test annually. I teach to CCSS daily.
