Hello! My name is Mariel and I graduated from Notre Dame in 2012 with a degree in Mandarin Chinese. Currently, I'm working towards my MA in applied linguistics. I enjoy tutoring because I think that teaching 1-on-1 and really getting to know each student and their individual needs is extremely rewarding.
I have experience teaching in a classroom setting as well as tutoring SAT and ACT test prep 1-on-1 and am strong in both the verbal and math sections. I also have experience teaching and tutoring writing at the undergraduate level for both native and non-native speakers of English.
I scored in the 94th percentile on the Quantitative section of the GRE.
I am working towards an MA in teaching ESL and I scored perfect scores on the SAT's Writing section and the GRE's Verbal section.

For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. I have the following credentials: I scored a perfect 800 on the Writing section of the SAT; I scored a perfect 170 on the Verbal section of the GRE; I taught English Composition at the undergraduate level to both native and non-native speakers of English; and I worked in a university Writing Center tutoring grammar and writing.
