Avila University (Art)
Hi. My name is Anjanette. I have been an art teacher for 15 years. I have taught grade levels that range from pre-k through middle school. I have been the lead teacher for the awards committee for the last 3 years. Office Max honored me with Teacher of the Year in 2014. I have been on the leadership team at my school for the past two years and I feel that teaching is rewarding because I get back as much as I put in. My students always have input in my lessons, are engaged, and have fun. They have won art contests throughout my career and enjoy creating inspiring works of art for others. I am married and have two daughters. I have a bubbly personality. I am creative and energetic. I enjoy drawing and painting in all different mediums. I also like to add three dimensional objects to my paintings. I have been inspired by nature, places around St. Louis, and other artists.
My philosophy is art is everywhere. Art is all around us. Art is a picture, an object or any idea. Visual art is vital to each child’s development. It is a way for expression of language through images. It is a way to interpret, analyze and think critically. Art allows an individual to practice problem solving, to know there are many paths that lead to numerous ideas, concepts, and solutions to world problems. Art is a journey through culture, history, values and acceptance of others. Visual arts helps one grow in self- identity and become a respectful, responsible, and caring individual in society. Art is the most intimate form of communicating between each other, the ability to connect and share the vision that one sees, emotions that one feels. Art is always changing. As humans develop from cave art to the scientific and spiritual unseen images of art used in modern society, we can see through the views as diverse people see and accept each ones views on concepts and embrace other ideas.
